AUROA

· Aurora is a fully managed MyDQL / PostgreSQL compatible relational Database.

· Data is held in 6 replicas, across 3 AZ, - 2 copies in each AZ

· upto 2 copies can be lost without affecting write availability , and 3 copies for Read could also be lost

· Auto healing capability

· Multi AZ, Auto Scaling Read Replicas

· Read Replicas can be Global

· Auroa database can be Global for DR or latency purposes

· Auto scaling of storage from 10gb to 64 TB in 10 GB increments

· Compute resources can scale upto 64vcpu to 488GIB of memory

· Define EC2 instance type for Auroa instances

· Same security / monitoring / maintenance features as RDS

· Auroa Serverless option

USE CASE: same as RDS but with less maintenance / more flexibility / more performance

Auroa > Fail of single instance > 1st will try to create a new db in the same AZ, if cannot will create a new db in a different AZ.

Auroa > if it has read replica`s than it will promote the read replica and will be switching the cname
